Participated in the exhibition of the Center of Austronesian Culture, this time—“Anthropologist's wallet—
the Social life of money”. I saw the name of the exhibition very special and very novel at first.I am looking
forward to seeing. I am very interested in the signboard at the entrance to the door. In a game-like
way, let people first think about what can be exchanged as currency before they have seen the
exhibition to do a preliminary test.

I saw many very novel discoveries in the exhibition. As long as the two parties agree that they can
exchange value, it is enough to become a currency. In the past society, even salt, cocoa beans,
cigarettes, instant noodles and pigs can be made valuable exchange items. As the times evolve, we
now have common currencies.

Different countries issue their own currency, and the national currency begins to spread. The above
will also print things that represent your own country, but there are still other regions that maintain
their own distinctive currency. The most special, such as the Solomon Islands. Making different beads
by region and ethnic group.Shell money also has the same value as currency in the local area. It is also
an important dowry to use this as a dowry. For them, it is a representation of cultural identity.

Yap Stone Money in Yap also has a lot of uses in the local area. In addition to being exchangeable, it
is also used as a cultural representation and presentation of various literary creations. In the history of
Taiwan’s aborigines, the Shell money currency was also used in Atayal, Sai Xia, Pai Wan. It can be seen
that the use of shellfish as a currency was common in the past.

The exhibition mentioned that "Currency in practice is continually undergoing a dynamic negotiation
process".I think this sentence is very relevant to the central idea of the entire exhibition. Every place,
very different time and space background, has different currency performance. As long as it is
something that both sides think has exchange value, it can be used as currency.

Not like the banknotes, credit cards, leisure cards, etc. we imagine now. Perhaps people in other
corners of the world use something we don’t think of as currency. Each different currency shows the
lifestyle in that society more indirectly. See social value from money, and seeing the era from the
currency.”Does the money itself have internal strength? The meaning of money is actually defined by
culture.”
